Another flat . . .

I wanted to share a Tender Mercy that we experienced this week.  Our trip up to the Rockwood Reunion was eventful - part of the front of the trailer door blew away, somewhere on the road between Preston and Blackfoot, we lost one of the L-pins that holds the Equalizer to the trailer . . . and just when we arrived at the dry farm,  one of the tires on the trailer was flat - that in itself was a tender mercy because there are not many easy places to stop and fix a tire on those dusty dirt roads. (And yes, it is probably time to retire the trailer - but oh, so many happy memories!)

Justin kindly offered to bring back a tire when he came back on Saturday, as the spare was also flat. . .  but unfortunately, the new tire was the wrong size and we had to use the spare after all.  Ray filled it full of air and we headed home, trying to keep on the back roads because of the trailer door and the doubtful spare tire.

As we pulled into a gas station in Soda Springs, Idaho, I noticed that the spare tire was torn in a couple of places and very low.  Ray filled the tire with air and we looked for a place to stay, but their RV Park (named Brigham Young's Place was totally scary - I was so glad the owner didn't answer the phone when we called her!) We didn't find anything else in Soda Springs so we drove on to Grace, Idaho.  I was looking for campgrounds, or at least a church parking lot that we could pull into, but Ray thought that the tire would hold until we got to Logan, so on we slowly drove.  Just outside of Grace, the tire totally fell apart and pieces of rubber were flying.  It just happened that there was a turn-out right there in the road that we were able to pull over into it and have the trailer parked off the road.  (that was total Grace). We got out and there was only shreds of tire left on the rim.  We took the tire off and locked the trailer and headed in to Logan, where we stayed Sunday night.  We were able to buy two new tires in Logan on Monday morning, trade the tire that was the wrong size and drove back to Grace to get the trailer.  On the way back, I watched the road and there was not anywhere else for miles that we could have pulled the trailer off the road.  I felt so strongly that it was such a tender mercy from the Lord to have that pull-out right where we needed it.  I am so grateful for his presence and care in our lives.  He is real and He loves us!
And this is a photo of the Treasureton Valley - it would be a beautiful place for a cabin!

Love you all!
